Biography

Dr. Christopher Timmermann is a pioneering neuroscientist and internationally recognized leader in psychedelic research. He holds a BSc in Psychology from Santiago, Chile, and an MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of Bologna, Italy. Based at Imperial College London’s renowned Centre for Psychedelic Research, Dr. Timmermann led the world’s first neuroimaging studies on the effects of  DMTx on human brain function, consciousness, and its potential clinical applications, advancing our understanding of sustained psychedelic experiences and their therapeutic potential.

His groundbreaking work explores the neuroscience, psychology, beliefs, and ethics of the psychedelic experience—bridging rigorous science with a deep curiosity about the nature of mind and consciousness. In addition to his academic roles, Dr. Timmermann is a member of the international interdisciplinary group ALIUS and serves as president of the Foundation for the Study of Human Consciousness.
